Club History

The Optimist Club of Brighton is a 501 c4 entity and was chartered as one of 2,500 clubs in 1977. Our motto is "Friend of Youth".

Chartered in September 1977, the Club contributes to many local causes and has spear-headed some large projects.  In 1996, we established the Optimist Foundation of Livingston County, an IRS-recognized 501 c 3 organization. The foundation funds our youth events and other charitable activities.

As with all Optimist Clubs, we are "Bringing Out The Best In Youth, Our Communities, and Ourselves" through our positive service programs.  Club members are best known in their communities for their upbeat and "can do" attitudes. By believing in young people and empowering them to be the best they can, Optimist volunteers continually make this world a better place in which to live.
